Feature Requests in Slicer

I have some suggestions I’d love to see implemented in the slicing software. They all revolve around slicing settings, primarily opening up the “Advanced” settings options a bit more for more fine control.

  • Allow user-defined resin presets and add them to the dropdown list (i.e. “save as new” when editing settings)
  • Allow air pump to be enabled even when using regular peeling – this may help reduce the lift height for a fast “hybrid” peel
  • Allow any number of millimeters for the rise height rather than fixing to just a few options (1-10mm for example). A low rise like 1mm may be useful if the air pump is enabled
  • Specify the rise speed separate from the fall speed (i.e. move up very slowly to peel gently, then reset a little faster)
  • Add another motor speed option – very slow, or just give numeric control of motor speed to fully customize
  • Remember the user’s last choice for whether the “Advanced” slicing options were selected so that it defaults to the desired view when opening the program each time

I can appreciate that you want to keep the options limited because you want to keep the user experience simple, but you also have a wide range of experience levels among your user base. Maybe consider organizing into 3 layouts based on complexity: “Quick,” “Intermediate,” and “Advanced.”

Thanks for reading!

Thank you for your advice, I’ll feed it back to our software department.

This feature is really a MUST have!! If you don’t have it it’s better to go sell bananas. So, the auto-support generation is a nice thing but almost every time it produces a very bad support. Either it does not support a floating islands, or it’s over dense, making a removal/post processing very hard. My suggestion is to make a manual option to put support (like Chitubox, Cura, Slicr, Meshmixer, NetFab,…). Though Chitubox has a manual re-position and manipulation of support structures is not the best. You should make a support feature in a way that user can select from where to start  on a platform (or model) and where to put the “anchor” on a model.  I know, I know…. There is a manual Edit and in some way is even better than Chitubox’s but still not good enough. The GUI is very counter-intuitive.

Currently in the present release of Uniz Desktop 1.6.0 the auto repair feature is… well very badly implemented. Every other S/W I’m using did repair a model properly!!! So, either remove that feature or make it work.

Another suggestion would be to hire a good GUI designer which is a native English speaker!!!!! The Chinese English used in the product is quite hard to understand.

And the next MUST have feature is hollowing and making holes in the model. Well, it’s obvious why we need to hollow a solid model. But even more obvious is why we need a feature to make holes/openings in the model too!

So include that feature ASAP!!!!!

Oh yes! All other slicers have, usually a red coloring, showing the overhanging areas that needs support.

INCLUDE THAT TOO!!!

There should be a remove auto-generated support button!! Right now if you want to remove the supports you have to click Lift and than Down button. Very stupid and undocumented!

Oh yes, what about documentation, a User Guide?!?!

I’ll reply on my own post. Actually this button is now added in UNIZ Desktop  version  2!

I have such a nice monologue here….

Since Uniz Desktop has the same (well, very similar) code-base as Chitubox, wouldn’t be better to hire their team to develop a “killer-app” rather than to try something from scratch just to say … “this is our product”?

Not a feature, but a change I’d like to see is that rotation angles would be the current rotations relative to the model orientation when imported.

Right now they are “world angles”  applied and forgotten after being applied. This makes it awkward to reset the rotation around a  models axis especially as relative to the model the value applied for x changes may change a different axe whenever applied

Agree with all the above, just purchased an IBEE and can’t use it because of software errors.

Please fix ASAP, I would like to see UNIZ survive.
