Increase in failed prints after FW upgrade.

Has anyone else noticed an increase in failed prints?  To me it seems that since the build plate comes up right away to cool, instead of staying against the platform to cool, the resin isn’t hardening enough causing it to separate from the resin already on the platform.

I have. I thought i was doing something wrong.

I’ve wasted an entire bottle without getting a single usable print.  Really damn annoyed

Agreed. I will need to check to see if there is a setting that was messed up. I only have about 100ml of the green left. still waiting for the others. Soon ™

The exposure time has changed! You need to get more time, everything has changed with the software update.
on March 21, 2018

Do you do that by slicing or the advance settings? The advanced settings are still set to 15s

The exposure time pre-post sw update for the default settings was 2s there has been no change.  Or has the resin formula changed and needs more exposure time? I did notice the newer bottles which I believe are udp compatible

Example for 50μm for me ran 2.3 sec exposure. Do you follow any group of users? Sign in to facebook follow slash users!

Deleted facebook.

My problem is adhesion to the platform. I don’t think the first layer settings are working right.

I am building a new one tonight. I am going to run the first 10 layers at 15 exposure and 15 cooling. hopefully it works.

Ben,
there is a group article here in discussion to alleviate the vacuum in the vat.

Thanks I’ll give it a try, you’d think they would have updated the sw to change the default settings. Instead of expecting the users to know it changed when they have had no trouble in the past.   I’m surprised they decreased the speed when their goal is to make the printer faster.

IT looks like longer exposure for the first few layers is needed. I think it is doing 0 seconds for the first layer.

Will update when print completes/fails.

I also have issues (as everyone, as I read in the slash user group). In particular I’m having Z axis slipping on first layer/s and adhesion problems (never had those with 3.13! Every model was sticking too hard on the build plate before!)

However I have to say that the first build plate going down and immediately up isn’t a layer. It’s a sort of calibration, maybe to detect a z axis miscalibration before the print, I don’t know.

The print begins just after that.

Peichao Wang was so kind to suggest me to print first millimeters with some more exposure (ex. 2.5 sec at 0,1mm), with rise of 8mm and motor speed low, to improve reliability of first layers. I’m trying just now and it seems to help a lot.

I’m also using a led power of 200W to generate a smaller peeling force and it seems to be reliable.

I hope it could help 🙂

WTF!!!??? I have gone through 3 bottles of resin and only got two hollow skulls 8cm heigh and a Grout 5 cm heigh. Must have had 40 fails and 30 odd not even started!!! I print on the default as expected that to be UNIZ advised/recommended now I hear that all this has changed and nothing from UNIZ explaining it all!!!! No I am not on Facebook but would love it if someone would post here too…..Would have expected more responsibility will fall on UNIZ inform people. No resin left and 3 months to deliver to UK means I have now a paper weight.

The latest green resin I have is a new formula. If left in the vat it separates out and the colour pigment settles on the bottom. Not knowing this I did a vat clean and it failed. Removing the resin I was a powdery paint type layer on the bottom that required intense scraping. However doing so results in a ruptured vat.

I bought vat covers and extra vats so the resin can remain and be stored in their vat according to resin type as recommend by Uniz. Do not do this….guessing the only other option is to pump back into bottle and shake??

Daniel…can you post a copy of the article  in discussion to alleviate the vacuum in the vat, here as I don’t have facebook. Many thanks in advance…

So the idea of using the printer remotely is impossible.  Not even sure if anyone got the camera working?
